This role was largely strategic, entailing building, publishing and monitoring the performance of the Maintenance Services Business Plan but with a significant bias towards the operation and management of the sludge treatment process and combined-heat-power (CHP) engine fleet.For the last six months of this period, I also directly managed the CHP and steam raising technical operational teams. During this period the outputs achieved reached all time company high levels.I was heavily engaged in promoting professional standards within the Maintenance Services department, acting as sponsor and mentor, as well as a main contact point with relevant professional institutions. During 2018 this led to several additional registrations in the department.

My main task was the tactical operational management of a range of wastewater treatment centres, including two large sites, both strategic sludge treatment centres.During this time I took the team and area from a position of low performance, to one of total quality compliance which held for a period of three complete performance years. From early 2009 to early 2010 I was engaged by Partners for Water and Sanitation, acting as a Wastewater Treatment Advisor to the South African regulatory authorities. This was as part of the Green Drop water and sanitation initiative. It involved two periods of time in-country, and production of major reports which were published across the country. Apart from the time overseas, all involvement was concurrent with my substantive role.

Leading a team of technicians and engineers, managing all elements of operating the sewerage network and associated pumping station fleet.I initiated and implemented a number of targeted training and development processes, including new training with Advanced Field Technician skills and targeted Body Mechanics training' I also sat on a number of panels and groups as business matter expert.During this period I was seconded to the international group for three months, undertaking a bid for improving the wastewater services provision in Metropolitan Manila, The Philippines. My main task was to draw-up a strategic plan for expanding the coverage of services across a 25 year period.I was also seconded for a period of six months to join a group delivering SAP into the business. I worked primarily in the Finance areas, but acted as operational representative across the project.
