In 2023, I was assigned the role of Head Coach of the YJFL Division 2 team in the AFL Victoria Metro Junior Championships. Under my tutelage, and with the support of the program’s head coach, a number of kids had the opportunity to develop their skills, make new friends and gain access to higher level football knowledge to help them in matches against various other leagues. In doing this role, I demonstrated my nous for talent identification, statistical analysis as well as being able to inculcate sound training regimes for the boys within the program so as to maximise their development and performance. This was ultimately highlighted with being granted the responsibility to coach a combined Division 1 and Division 2 YJFL team against the Mornington Peninsula Junior Football League where we emerged as convincing victors.
