I work as part of a team of developers and engineers responsible for the intelligence and control of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). Our AGVs are medium-to-large scale autonomous, mobile material handling robots - think "forklift without a human driver" - that are used in diverse industries including automotive manufacturing, warehouses, and hospitals.My responsibilities include:- Writing and maintaining embedded C/C++ software for guidance, navigation, motion control, perception, safety systems, communication, and GUI/HMI subsystems- Designing, implementing, and improving in-house algorithms for navigation, path following, motor control, lidar-based object detection, and more- Creating interfaces to integrate 3rd party navigation, perception, and motion control solutions- Designing and developing tools for more effective prototyping, modeling and simulation, as well as debugging and product life maintenance (often using MATLAB)- Identifying improvements for the team's software development cycle and other workflows

As a Teaching Assistant, I instructed labs designed to introduce students to engineering laboratory equipment, develop proper methods of research/measurement, and teach them engineering related statistics to produce meaningful results from gathered data. My responsibilities included instructing multiple three hour labs each week, grading of homework, labs and exams, and holding office hours to supplement the lectures and give students additional help.

As a Project Management Intern, I shadowed and assisted a Senior Project Manager in the planning and oversight of numerous projects of varying scale. As an Engineering Intern, I worked alongside power plant engineers on projects directly and indirectly related to plant operation. My responsibilities included short-term projects to accomplish individually or with a fellow intern, and observation of larger scale projects being conducted by the plant engineering staff.
