Profile bio

About Tim Murray

I have developed my expertise and passion for improving education outcomes in lower income, fragile and humanitarian setting through more than fifteen years’ experience. I first developed practical expertise through my teacher training and classroom teaching experience. I subsequently completed my masters with a focus on education policy; and since then have built extensive experience in designing and overseeing education strategies and programs. This has taken me from implementation focused positions, to my current role at Save the Children US, where I provide technical leadership to the education portfolio spanning countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America.I have led programs to improve foundational learning outcomes (literacy, numeracy and SEL) through systems-strengthening, teacher professional development, and community engagement approaches such as Literacy Boost and Teaching at the Right Level. I have also developed a strong expertise in school safety, as I co-led the development Save the Children’s Safe Schools Common Approach, and have worked closely on school-based violence prevention programs in Latin America. I love to distil complex technical content and evidence into compelling presentations, technical papers and funding proposals.
