My career has involved work experiences in a variety of healthcare settings and across all sector in the UK, East Africa and Canada. This diverse experience has included working as a Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner in the UK and helping to develop programs for preventing hospital admissions and facilitating discharges, working in acute surgery, critical care and primary care. I have also worked in East Africa which included a volunteer placement in Rwanda with an HIV program and remote rural health clinic and the commissioning of an International Standards Healthcare Facility in Kampala, Uganda. A few years ago I decided to focus on managerial roles and for the past few years I have been managing a busy Emergency Department in Canada. Recently I have taken the opportunity to help develop virtual care as a Manager, following the global pandemic, there has been an increased need of this innovation. My varied clinical experience allows me to be very versatile. I also like to take an active role in participating in projects and intiatives that will support change at the systems level. I would categorize my management style as authentic, charismatic and mentoring. I seek to engage and inspire my team and work towards best practice standards.To support my chosen career path I enrolled in an International Healthcare Management course, which was helping inform my managerial practice. Recently I began working as a consultant in healthcare.
