In August of 2011 I joined a new group in Intel. This group is responsible for the design and engineering of mobile tablet reference designs as well as design support for major computer ODMs. In this role I am a technical lead for a team that designs tablets for software development. The team and I design and engineer consumer ready tablet reference designs that are made available to customers for use as retail tablets. These designs are also used for industry certification. My role starts early in the product design performing volume studies, trade off analysis and component placement architecture. I also direct the efforts of a mechanical engineering team; coordinating with the cross Functional teams to successfully design tablet computers.

I began this role with this group in January 2011. One of my first responsibilities was to design and engineer an external cooling dock for cell phones, using my expertise in ProE.I have also created thermal test models with embedded thermal couples and foil heaters to simulate varying temperature ranges in cell phones during use. These models were used to determine user acceptability of cell phone heat. I had an opportunity to work with an industrial design firm to review the early industrial design for feasibility of creating fully developed cell phones that met the Intel marketing requirements, using ProE and manufacturability knowledge. I have developed competitive analysis for thermal management of cell phone components. A thermal management landscape report for cell phones was created using IR cameras and thermal couples by me, to determine the board layout and component placements in new phone designs.

I designed and engineered computer processor validation tools using ProE and COSMOS. I also conducted oversight of product verification utilizing standard and custom test cases. I conducted failure analysis to determine the root cause of defects found in verification testing, production and customer returns. Utilizing this information corrective actions were taken to improve the product.

I lead a team of 5 quality assurance auditors to improve the product quality and to reduce and/or eliminate products delivery deadlines being missed by project development teams. My team utilized compliance audits and project reviews to determine the health of development projects and products. At the start of the auditing program the organization’s projects health was measured at 68% against software development standards. My team of project auditors, under my direction, coached and mentored project managers and as a result the health of the organization’s projects improved to 95%.

This was an experimental role for INTEL that I took on in 2000.In this role I brought together various internal business units highlighting their product development engineering needs to find resources to speed their product development and time to market. I worked with internal business units in INTEL at domestic facilities, to assist in controlling the budgeting in minimizing the start up costs of new business ventures. Change in the corporate business models eliminated this position.

I managed and coordinated the work load and productivity of contract workers, external engineering and design firms. I fed schedules and work products into the larger engineering teams to keep projects on schedule.International ExperienceChina: I have qualified tools and supplier processes in China; I have also worked with OEM suppliers in China to convert products to INTEL looks, feels and standards.Taiwan: I have traveled to Taiwan to review tools and suppliers for production capabilities and quality.Puerto Rico: I traveled to Puerto Rico to provide production manufacturing training on a product launch. I wrote technical instructions for the manufacturing line to follow for production.International teams: I have significant experience in coordinating and working with cross functional engineering teams, my peers located in India, Mexico and Malaysia while I am in the US. I have been successful in coordinating engineering efforts through the various time zones and remaining on schedules with my team.Other:I am an experienced engineer in the design and engineering of chassis, hard drives selection and mounting, cables, connectors (custom and selection), card bezels, faceplates, covers, active and passive heat sinks, light pipes, buttons, and ducting.I have been awarded 3 patents in my name from the US Patent Office for my designs of computer networking products..

Energy Products Group:Using ProE, Six Sigma, and COSMOS I designed and engineered products for the first pocket cell phone. I facilitated the set up of new production lines for battery products via station planning and production operator training on site.

Radio Products Group:I engineered high end hand held two way radios used primarily by the military and law enforcement, to withstand harsh environments such as salt water, high heat, humidity, extreme cold, mechanical shock and vibration testing, using ProE and COSMOS. I also validated product prototypes utilizing test specifications and appropriate test equipment. I sustained the production for existing radio products, by designing fixtures, modifying assembly equipment and the radio designs to accommodate tool wear, using CADAM.
