I shoot photos of tombstones and put them with the Find a Grave record to honor the dead and to assist relatives. The photos range from Civil War veterans to some in Europe for soldiers that I have written about.

The Camp has been a Milwaukee institution since 1901. I also have been the Wisconsin graves registration officer for the past five years, placing thousands of graves into the national Sons database for the benefit of relatives, researchers and fans of history. Registered Wisconsin graves have passed 32,000; when I was offered the job, the number was about 18,000. I have had lots of help in boosting these numbers.

Taught writing, editing and reporting skills to dozens of people currently in publishing and related media, and mentored many of them plus was adviser to the student newspaper. Was founding editor of sports magazine at newspaper after 12 years of being world and national wire news editor in Milwaukee and a few years at an Iowa newspaper. Handled every day of four presidential campaigns and part of another.
