Serve as the trusted technology leader to inspire, build, and lead a world-class engineering team in a fast-paced, rapidly scaling environment. Provide the organizational support, frameworks, processes and tools that engineers need to thrive and to develop great products on schedule. Launch and take leadership of the new Operations business unit until new CFO arrived. Collaborate with all nine departments and determine the mission and vision of the Operations business unit to provide direction and alignment. Drive and oversee the planning and execution activities of multiple departments. Continually monitor team sentiment and work through team formation process by identifying/acting on what needs to be addressed (new hires, roles, restructuring, etc). Develop, implement and manage reporting of ways to effectively measure the performance of each department in Operations across the company to ensure we are meeting the needs of the business. Provide regular updates, gather feedback, and make adjustments where necessary. Work with all business unit executives to ensure the strategic initiatives of the company are properly prioritized. Identify opportunities and generate initiatives for providing continuity and improving the overall operational efficiency and effectiveness across all business areas at Unbounce (software, information, data, projects, etc).

Build a world class Data Organization through people, culture, process, and ecosystem. Collaborate with senior leaders to gather and support the data requirements across all departments within the company. Determine mission, vision, and annual goals for the Data Organization and devise a strategy that incorporates data efforts to drive, support, and enrich business initiatives. Organize for optimal execution based on current and future business plans and priorities using the Spotify-style Squad/Chapter approach. Define roles, responsibilities and support best practices for the Data Analyst, Data Engineering, and Data Science disciplines. Roadmap organization and data pipelines/products to meet current needs that scale to support new technologies and evolving business strategies. Build trust in the Data Organization and the data itself by prioritizing data relevance, integrity, availability, democratization, and building relationships with stakeholders. Maintain department budget for operations, travel, and staffing expenses. As a member of the Senior Leadership team, help formulate objectives and key results that shape the operations and strategic direction of the company.

Lead the pre-launch, launch and post-launch support activities for mobile apps in a rapidly growing studio. Identify stakeholder launch support needs and pain points and build a plan/team to address them. Improve and automate client and server pipelines to build, test, and deploy software faster and more reliably. Deploy, monitor, and maintain all game server cloud infrastructure using RightScale and AWS. Work directly with the IT department to optimize help desk ticket flow and implement SLAs. Create and maintain all internal/external documentation, including roadmaps, release checklists, and how-to guides in order to ensure efficiency, quality, and to propagate best practices across the studio. Provide leadership training including creating and supporting a company public speaking group. Bonus work: Gather requirements, plan, build, and hand off the studio Analytics team, consisting of a new data warehouse, Data Scientists and Big Data Developers to gather, analyze, and utilize data for live operations and strategic planning.

Drive the implementation and quality delivery of FIFA online solutions, including live services and deployments. Manage the careers of Development/Technical Directors and Senior Software Engineers with a team of 80+ software engineers, database and system administrators in three geographic locations. Define key processes for addressing live environment issues, scope/capacity imbalances, product roadmap/timelines, progress/status of work, and tracking risks/mitigations. Manage competing priorities across 10+ FIFA client game team stakeholders. Address morale issues by improving communication, productivity, and reducing context switching. Identify and address bot activity and security exploits in the live environment. Monitor and adjust project plans across online teams based on business needs. Maintain departmental budget for operational, staffing, and travel expenses.

Determine the geospatial and system needs of targeted aviation markets. Conduct research to identify major market trends, new opportunities, and potential partners. Develop product offering strategic plans to meet department and business area goals which identify demand drivers, markets, value proposition, pricing, competitive landscape, opportunity size, sales funnel, and growth strategy. Conduct business presentations to senior officials of key customers such as the UN, Civil Aviation Authorities, Airport Development Groups, and Airlines. Qualify opportunities, develop pursuit plans, and manage pursuits > $1M. Organize and manage proposal teams, write formal responses to RFIs/RFPs.

Plan, direct, and coordinate all activities associated with creating games across Art, Math, and Software Development departments. Prioritize and allocate projects, products, and resources with the assistance of Project Management and Managers/Leads. Participate in the strategic decisions about technology, methodology, and implementation of games and supporting products. Work with VPs, Senior Directors and Managers to ensure all areas of the game development pipeline execute as efficiently as possible. Create Training, Communication, and Professional Development plans for Art, Math, and Software Development teams. Create and maintain departmental budget for operating costs and training needs.

Interview and train new hires, motivate and build software teams. Perform annual employee reviews, rank team members. Conduct design/code/document reviews based on project standards. Integrate, verify, and deliver software solutions to the customer. Develop and deliver software systems for the Naval Combat Operator Trainer, USAF Global Procedure Designer, and CP-140 Synthetic Aperture Radar projects, using C/C++ on Unix/Linux/Windows XP.

Contribute to development of web-based billing system and create installer program for telecom customer using Java, Java Servlets, and Java Server Pages (internship while at Simon Fraser University).
