Long Term Goals: Re-enter the field of meteorology in some capacity, adjunct a meteorology or Earth Science/Environmental Science course at the collegiate level.Short Term Goals: Exposing teenagers to the vast ideas, skills, and career paths available in the sciences through education.Teaching experience includes 10 years teaching high school science in the most economically distressed areas of Washington, DC. Subject taught include Physics (5 years & current), Chemistry (2 years), AP Environmental Science (current & inaugural year at current school), Environmental Science (3 years), Earth Science (1 year). Created the current Physics curriculum used in KIPP DC High Schools with 600 alumni of the course curriculum. Beyond teaching responsibilities, priority was given to mentoring by taking students on college visits, sponsoring a weightlifting club at both KIPP DC high schools, and supporting student church and community events that would build student character and increase exposure.Project experience includes a 2004 internship with RS Information Systems in Suitland, MD and McLean, VA where duties included developing satellite images for the NOAA OSEI webpage of significant weather events around US. Research experience includes the 2005 Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) at the University of Iowa developing new techniques to measure and quantify rainfall error and the 2006 McNair Scholars research at Penn State analyzing air quality and meteorological data from Houston and measuring similar data in the Washington DC Metro Area.
