I love a great product, especially one that is well-engineered and creates an entirely new product category. I was a part of the teams that brought to market the first RDBMS designed for data warehousing in 1992 (Red Brick), one of the first web content management solutions in 1997 (Aziza), one of the first enterprise e-commerce application in 2001 (Blue Martini), and one of the first audience (i.e. human occupancy) measurement solutions in 2020 (BlueZoo). Innovative software can make the world a better place!

CeoBluezoo Inc. Aug 2020 - PresentMenlo Park, California, United StatesBlueZoo provides audience and occupancy measurement services to the out-of-home advertising, retail, and insurance markets. BlueZoo's passive Wi-Fi technology counts smartphones as a proxy for people. Unlike GPS-based mobile apps, BlueZoo's technology is privacy friendly and measures 95% of smartphones in a designated detection zone. BlueZoo's technology is protected by seven granted USPTO patents. Some of the world's largest OOH advertisers (JCDecaux), retailers (Home Depot), and insurers (The Hartford) use BlueZoo products. Advertisers and retailers measure audience sizes of digital signage to set advertising prices. Insurers measure occupancy as an indicator of risk, and seek to mitigate and correctly price this risk. Relevant to insurance markets, BlueZoo markets a simplified product, branded "Party Squasher", to short term rental (e.g. Airbnb) operators. Party Squasher detects a party when people gather, typically more than 1.5 hours before the noise starts, and notifies the rental manager via SMS or email in real time. -
