Utility Resource Planner
CurrentSummary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:• Directly responsible for developing and providing daily through multi year resource operational and maintenance costing models utilizing unit fuel costs, unit heat rates, resource outage plans, and load forecasting tools.• Optimizes company owned generation and asset related power supply contracts through sales, purchases and resource outage plan adjustments.• Must develop and maintain strong relationships and continuous interaction with plant representa-tives, system dispatchers and appropriate marketing personnel to optimize next day and balance of day energy products.• Model gas hedge strategies and model gas capacity requirements to support fuel trading group.• Determines price targets for energy transactions, including price forecasting for partial and full requirement wholesale customers and independent generators.• Demonstrates a basic understanding of Risk Management tools and concepts.• Responsible for development and implementation of strategies to participate in RTO/ISO Markets.• Develops and implements bid/offer and unit status strategies for participation in RTO markets.• Develops a thorough understanding of RTO market rules from bidding through settlements.• Interprets RTO market rules, reviews and analyzes market data and behavior and designs im-provements and solutions to allow full participation in RTO markets.• Performs market simulation testing, user acceptance testing and benchmarking of utility resource planning and RTO market participant software.• Provides functional design specifications, on-call end user support and serves as the point of contact to the Markets Services group for software issues related to the RTO market participa-tion.
