In this position, I coordinate with field investigators, Customs and Border Patrol inspectors, suspected violator companies, and legal counsel; all in order to determine if alleged violations are supported by the evidence presented during the course of investigation. As an Investigation and Compliance Specialist on the Plant Health Enforcement and Border Protection Branch, I review cases related to the spread of biological contaminants and insects that are being introduced into the US at border locations and ports, as well as the harvesting, storage, sale, and transport of such articles across the United States. These type investigations range from fungal and bacterial contamination to insect infestation, to disease contamination such as bird flu or the possible introduction of contaminants outside of quarantined areas. An example of this would be the transport of lumber infected with a destructive insect from within a quarantined state to a location outside the quarantined state. If this was to occur without regulation, the destructive insect could spread and destroy valuable forests, crops, and vegetation.

Review civil penalty, discrimination, and criminal cases for violations of the Federal Mine Act of 1977, 30 CFR, and Title 18 violations. Ensure the investigatory file supports the field investigator's findings. Handle all criminal cases under review. I advise approximately 80 Special Investigators and Supervisory Special Investigators in all matters related to investigations and legal sufficiency. Academy Instructor for Special and Supervisory Special Investigators in all aspects to include report writing, investigations, interviews and interrogations, and crime scene processing. The MSHA Academy is 1 of 7 Federal Academies (US Military Academy, US Air Force Academy, US Naval Academy, US Coast Guard Academy, US Merchant Marine Academy, FBI Academy, and the Mine Safety and Health Academy).

Supervise and direct the investigative purview of the United States Eastern Coast, Europe, Middle East and Africa for Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) entities and issues. Started this position as a contractor 2005 and rejoined in 2007 as a government civilian. Researched and protected US technologies being researched, developed and fielded for the US Government, primarily Counter-IED devices.
