Bill is licensed to practice law in both Mississippi and Louisiana. Bill's practice is concentrated in general liability, professional liability, auto/transportation, fraud, admiralty and maritime torts in state and federal court. Bill has tried cases throughout Louisiana including federal court in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette and in district and city courts in the parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, St. Charles, St. John, East Baton Rouge, Terrebonne, Franklin, Rapides, Natchitoches and St. Bernard. Bill has handled appeals to the Louisiana Supreme Court and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.Bill has litigated cases involving the following issues:-two month jury trial involving spinal cord injury and paraplegia to two year old following motor vehicle accident; wrongful death and survivorship actions -successful trial and appeal through Louisiana Supreme Court regarding carrier's duty to defend (Benoit v. Boudreaux) -Louisiana Supreme Court decision requiring reformation of policy limits following declaration that certain business use exclusion violates public policy (Marcus v. Hanover Insurance Company) -successful defense of fraud in motor vehicle accident where court eventually awarded carrier $25,000 in costs against plaintiffs (Aaron v. American Deposit Insurance Company) -defense of Jones Act and other maritime personal injury and product liability actions including multiple jury and bench trials -defense of automobile dealership claims including automobile and premises liability, TILA, FCRA, consumer credit issues and redhibition -insurance coverage issues including exclusions, indemnity and other public policy considerations -product liability matters involving vehicles, tires, oil industry tools/equipment and commercial -property damage and first party insurance matters involving allegations for recovery of bad faith penalties and attorney fees
