Remembering Srebrenica

Remembering Srebrenica is the UK Government funded body set up to mark Srebrenica Memorial Day and remember the victims of the worst atrocity on European soil since World War Two, where over 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were systematically and brutally murdered by Serb forces in July 1995. Remembering Srebrenica’s work focuses on commemorating the Srebrenica genocide and on learning the lessons to help create a better and safer world. The three central elements of this work are: • Bringing communities together in the UK to commemorate the genocide each year on 11th July • Educating young people about the consequences of hatred by learning the lessons from the genocide, and • Creating Community Champions to stand up against all forms of hatred and intolerance in their communities
