In this role, Adam led a national team of policy analysts and fellows who focus on transformational policies that drive long-term solutions to the country’s biggest problems. Specifically, Adam and his team focused on the policy areas of criminal justice, foundational (K12) education, post-secondary education, and free speech.

Appointed by Governor Kay Ivey to serve as the Deputy Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Senior Services, a cabinet-level health & human services state agency that administers programs for senior citizens and people with disabilities. In this role, Adam served as the senior executive tasked with overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the $200 million, 50 employee state agency, reporting directly to the Commissioner.

Appointed by Governor Kay Ivey, Adam oversaw the policy, legislative affairs, political appointments, and workforce development teams for the Governor.

The Secretary of State is Alabama's "Chief Election Official". The Secretary of State is given many different election duties under state law. Election records include vote totals, certified ballots and records showing how much money candidates and political committees raised and spent during an election. Additionally, state law gives the Secretary of State over 1,000 different duties, and virtually all of them involve processing and filing documents that are public records. Many of the documents must have the Great Seal of Alabama affixed in order to make them official.

The Alabama Constitution requires that the Office of State Auditor make a full and complete report to the governor showing the receipts and disbursement of every character, all claims audited and paid out, and all taxes and revenues collected and paid into the treasury, and the source thereof. The Auditor shall also make reports more often upon matters pertaining to the Office if required by the Governor or the Legislature. In 1939, the duties were again changed when the Legislature created a new department to handle the examination and audit of records and accounts. In 1969, the office became responsible for maintaining property records of all state-owned, non-consumable property.
