Graded speaking portion of AP Spanish Language (now Spanish Language and Culture)

Teach seventh grade - AP Spanish Language. Deliver course content using variety of technologies including Edmodo, BrainPop Español, SmartBoard, You Tube, blog, and podcasts. Promote interaction in target language with blogging, email, online surveys, and Twitter. Pedagogical approach: Content-based instruction grounded in the interpretive, interpersonal, presentational modes of communication and ACTFL guidelines; emphasis on student learning outcomes and student-centered learning; Facilitator for Experiential Education Program; Spanish Club Sponsor.

Taught undergraduate Phonetics, Topics in Hispanic Linguistics, Introduction to Descriptive Linguistics, and Advanced Grammar. 2002-2003: Supervised and taught Intermediate Transition Spanish - approx. 25 sections of 25-30 students each; 2003-2007: Supervised and taught Intermediate Spanish – approx. 50 sections of 25-30 students each. Elevated program from Elementary High to true Intermediate. Trained instructors in educational technology, holistic grading, use of portfolios and student outcomes assessment. Established atmosphere of collaboration to create individualized standardization for course as whole. Implemented educational technology at all levels.

Coordinator of Teaching Associates. Created three new MA courses: Teaching Spanish at the Post-secondary Level, Historical Linguistics, and Second Language Acquisition. Taught Spanish Applied Linguistics, Intro to Hispanic Linguistics and Elementary Spanish in undergraduate program.
