Work in Shared Prep and Recovery unit at Level I trauma center, stroke center, and regional burn center. 1,300 bed county safety net facility - shared unit servicing Cardiac Cath lab, Interventional Radiology, and GI lab. Prep and Phase I and Phase II recovery for approximately 90 inpatients and outpatients daily. Patient population ranges from outpatient with local anesthesia only to ICU vented patients waiting for a bed. Function as floor nurse, pre-op charge and recovery charge over staff of 16. Working on the evening shift where unit needs to be closed daily and patient discharge or placement in the hospital must be completed. Served as UBC co-chair and then chair for the last 2 years. Currently working on EBP project to improve patient education.

Assisted with COVID-19 vaccination administration for approx. 10,000 people per day at Texas Motor Speedway during pandemic.

I travel nationally to provide inservice and bedside support on medical devices to nursing and medical staff. I love getting to see new places and visit hospitals around the country and interact with my peers in various settings. My passion is to help them be more familiar and comfortable with new equipment they are using to provide excellent patient care.

Helped to grow 501c3 homeschool cooperative. Taught homeschooled children, grades preschool through 12th grade, in a group of 25 families, specializing in the sciences. Held roles as executive board member, middle and high school counselor, recruiter and trainer, and liaison with community colleges regarding dual enrollment for our high schoolers. Secured location and helped with negotiating contracts each year.

Practiced throughout the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex in various ICU and ED settings as a staff nurse. Adapted quickly to management and staff in settings frequently new to me. Formed relationships and was asked to return or sign up for additional shifts.
