Master Teachers are teacher leaders who provide appropriate and engaging learning activities and experiences designed to help students attain their maximum potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Master Teachers work 15 days outside of the contract year to include 5 days of professional learning and 10 additional days of work with students. As well as specific requirements for extended time which includes activities such as tutoring students (estimated at an additional 5 hours per week) and attending professional learning (5 Saturdays during the school year).◦ Analyzed assessment data with math department weekly and aligned vertically to create engaging lesson plans as department chair, lead weekly PLC’s, and develop plan for interventions to address misconceptions◦ Created and implemented Master Teacher initiatives at the campus level such as: after-school tutoring, Super Saturdays, STEM nights, Walk to the Polls event, drive-thru graduation, and virtual Summer Camps and developed graphics and designs for social media marketing of these events◦ Mobilized and invested in a classroom of 110 seventh/eighth graders by fostering positive classroom culture using research-backed management methods and cultivating strong school-family relationships resulting in increased parent engagement and reduced discipline issues◦ Collaborated to create outreach strategy for parent engagement, including designing and co-managing annual Parents’ Platicas resulting in an increase in family engagement in school initiatives◦ Developed plan to communicate with linguistically diverse parents weekly by translating resources and school guides and providing both written and virtual check-ins
