Application Engineer - Oil & Gas
Ge Oil & Gas
Rio De Janeiro Area, Brazil
As an Application Engineer, I prepared proposals for reciprocating compressors that were designed and manufactured for specific operating conditions, and following customer specifications and requirements. It was my role to read and understand project specifications and select the appropriate machine, including accessories and optional items. Machine selection must also take into account material restrictions imposed by operating conditions (pressure, temperature, gas composition, etc.).I was also responsible for calculating the complete equipment cost, including the estimation of required engineering hours, tests & inspection activities, special documentation, and development of special (non-standard) design. The goal was to offer a machine that complies with all requirements with a competitive cost.Final step was to issue the complete proposal, combining information from different sources into a package that contains all the information that was originally requested by the customer. In addition to developing proposals and calculating the costs for these equipment, I also had the opportunity to: - Act as a focal point between the other application engineers in the region and the headquarters. This facilitated the communication in several instances, and was a key element in the success of the region in the global regionalization effort. - Develop tools that increased the application engineer productivity. These tools read the output file of the simulation software and automatically generates the equipment datasheet. It increases the information accuracy and reliability, and also reduces proposal lead time. - Take GE Crotonville Leadership trainings (Foundation of Leadership, Leadership Development Course) - I was also nominated Senior Engineer after successful delivery of several complicated proposals, in which excellent communication skills (with the customer, and also with team member) made the difference, together with deep knowledge of the product.
