A critical member of the COVID-19 Crisis Strike Team as an LVN assisting the internal public health department within the California Department of Corrections. My duties include assessments and monitoring of inmate patients in their housing units after positive COVID-19 exposure that have been placed on quarantine status and reporting to the RN on duty, assisting the RN with assessments of isolated inmate patients that have tested positive for COVID-19, conducting COVID-19 screenings for those returning from a higher level of care appointments/visits, conducting mass testing of entire housing units for COVID-19, conducting preliminary vaccination screening and providing education for the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, administering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in the clinic, and monitoring for any adverse reactions to the vaccine. EMR charting with Cerner and reporting confirmed vaccinations to CAIRs.
