The designation of Senior Project Writer/Editor, noted at the top of the page, reflects 24 consecutive years (and two capital campaigns) in Alumni Relations and Development at Northwestern.Along with writing, editing, and researching reports (and other communications to donors) and contributing to ad hoc projects, I am involved in efforts to advance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)* in Alumni Relations and Development (ARD) at Northwestern. The hard work and leadership of my colleagues in ARD, Organization and Learning Development, and Human Resources has made this possible. I also feel fortunate to have been a member of the ARD Diversity Council and to be a current member of the Donor Relations DEI Cross-Team Subcommittee, Pride@ARD, and Jewish@ARD.*DEI work at Northwestern has included participating in a DEI Hackathon group (2024); leading a discussion on disability and racism (fall 2022); proposing, co-creating, and continually updating the ARD Observances Calendar; helping to plan/co-host Reflecting on the One-Year Anniversary of the Death of George Floyd (May 2021); attending the Active Inclusion (April 2021) workshop; creating and co-hosting the DEI Morning Coffee Roundtable (April 2021); drafting, along with several dedicated colleagues, the anti-racist discussion guide (fall 2020); and attending the Unconscious Bias workshop (May 2020).

There was a wonderful Sangha meditation at Mishkan Chicago that met Wednesday nights. My heartfelt thanks to Rabbis Lizzi, Lauren, and Deena; David Gottlieb; Jacob Kaufman; Tova Markenson; Rabbi Rivka; and many others. Along with Mishkan, the Orot community continues to be a very enriching resource for many people in Chicago and beyond.

Paris Press was founded in 1995 to bring back into print Muriel Rukeyser's essential The Life of Poetry, essays about the need for Americans to live with the arts in our daily lives in order to be more sensate and compassionate individuals. The mission of Paris Press was to publish groundbreaking yet overlooked literature by women writers. The tag line is "daring and beautiful books," and the Press places special emphasis on unique and essential content as well as beautiful design. The Press believes it is necessary to educate the public about the books and authors we publish. The Eleanor Lazarus Educational Outreach Initiative reflects these values, sponsoring programs for the public and under-served communities throughout the country.

The Salon Series was originally conceived in 2008 as a creative and intellectual community that began in Evanston -- and has included Portland, Oregon -- focusing on individuals of age 40 and over who want to exhibit their artistry in any medium, present their written work in any genre, and share knowledge pertaining to any area of learning. We seek to offer a warm and supportive environment. Please join us at the Salon Series one Friday a month at the Evanston Art Center (EAC). The very talented Carol Solberg Moss has been managing/organizing/directing the Salon Series (and doing a fabulous job), which is fortunate to engage in a wonderful partnership with the EAC -- please stop by and look around.
