At EA, I was responsible for the Digital, Full-Stack and Integration technology teams and strategy, working with business and project teams to transition from a fully outsourced, out-moded technical capability to a blended, high performing technology capability, innovating across many technologies, and migrating to cloud-first, modern CI/CD processes to support improved quality and change. - Delivered approximately $60m in projects over three years, including significant regulatory change with unmovable and hard deadlines. - Delivered v1 and v2 of EA’s mobile application, as well as replaced the digital identity management solution with a modern SaaS product. Released almost 400 changes a year into production over 3.5 years. - Reduced cost of development resources by approximately 25% through creative sourcing. - Scaled the team from 17 fully outsourced developers with low engagement to a team of 65 with an engagement score above organisation and industry averages, while negotiating vendor talent quality improvements. - Replaced legacy, insecure software projects using Java 1.8, Angular 1 and Mulesoft with modern, new alternatives, working with React, Golang, Typescript, Python and others. - Identified and resolved 1600 vulnerabilities found in the Digital solutions, working with vendors and business stakeholders to prioritise and deliver change to 50+ applications - Instituted EA’s first technical Graduate Program

Our challenge is to hire and build that digital capability, and then deliver a best of breed capability focusing on "brilliant basics" - just what the customer needs to be able to enjoy their experience with us but done exceptionally. - Architected and Delivered a changed technology application platform technology for customers to enable them to use Digital channels in a way that wasn’t previously available and a modern Azure-based technology solution. - Implemented a modern software development stack still in production today, using C#, .net Core, Sitecore, React, React-Redux, Github, Jenkins and Octopus Deploy. - Delivered continuous delivery pipeline, that ensured the secure, performant, high quality delivery of software into production with one click. - Designed, built and Implemented a novel Mobile and Desktop testing solution, using TestCafe and parallelising testing across a dozen devices, reducing testing cycles from hours to minutes.

At Kloud I was Lead Developer and Consultant on a customer project, where we were tasked with bringing to market an Angular 4 / Ionic based application that allowed customers to simply read and submit their energy meter data. We came in and built the application stack from nothing - everything including the CI/CD build pipeline, the front end and backend solutions, built on Angular and .net core, using Identity Server and OpenID Connect to provide authentication. Working with a team of 4 developers and a project manager, a key part of my role was to provide technical architecture, consult with the product owner on the solution, and provide delivery guidance and assurance to the business. Overall the project was successful, delivered under budget and time, and with a great product that went to market.

My role at AGL was to lead all teams of developers and testers in the digital space. Starting with a group of three developers and testers when I started, at the time I left the digital technical team comprised of 135 people of which approximately 78 I was responsible for, including Testers, Developers and Dev Ops resources. The Digital remit included the AGL Energy App, which we built and delivered over a 24 month period using agile methodologies, as well as our Sitecore based web sites and microservice infrastructure underlying them. Part of my role was leading the team (with five direct reports for support), along with providing architectural guidance in terms of how to build, as one of two architects for digital. This means that I play with technology to help understand what’s possible, and then share that knowledge with my teams. Committing code from time to time to keep my skills sharp was crucial and enabled my awareness of what troubles for the team. The challenge in the role was to modernize the delivery of AGL digital software, improving our practices, building our IP in the software delivery space, and improving the quality of delivery and speed of responsiveness. I’m proud of a number of our services achieving 99.999% availability over 18 months, including maintenance windows. I’m also proud of the inclusive culture we’ve built, and our diversity, which includes 6 continents, a 40% female cohort in the Developer space and focusing on our unconscious biases. But mostly we’re proud of the more than $20 million of projects we’ve delivered which have transformed the way customers interact with us and delivered value to the business, and have culminated in the $300m Digital Transformation for AGL. We built cloud first, and truly agile, with a user experience led focus. We were using Windows Azure, No Sql databases, PaaS, Octopus Deploy, Bamboo continuous integration and Github. We had fun, and we deliver!

At MYOB, I was part of the Huxley project, rebuilding a legacy C++ application into .net 3.5 and migrating to the Azure cloud, for a business accounting solution generating more than 50% of MYOBs EBITDA. So ensuring a safe transition and a quality outcome for our customers was crucial - Implemented a solution that was both cloud- and local- capable, which scaled to 250,000 single-tenanted databases in production and more than 1200 instances of the web services running at any one time in a fail-safe, versioned capability. - Implemented an automated testing framework using Visual Studio test and Azure, scaling complex testing scenarios to 1000’s of requests per second to ensure a safe go-live for the product, earning the “Purple Jersey” (Employee of the year) for the work, reducing instance consumption by 30% working collaboratively with my team and Microsoft product teams. - I was the first “DevOps” specialist at MYOB, working on ensuring the Huxley product stayed in production and the call centre teams were able to support customer issues. Principal representative for MYOB in the redesign of Azure SQL Database, which at the time we were the second largest individual user world-wide.

Achieved the purple jersey award, which is worldwide employee of the half, as voted by the senior executive. The award was won through my work with Microsoft and internally improving the scalability and performance of the AccountRight Live project I am working on, leveraging internal and external parties to ensure the best outcome for my team, and the business.
