Worked for a North American travel e-Commerce customer. Migrated a legacy on-premisse monolithic application to microservices hosted on Google Cloud Platform using Kubernetes.• Designed and implemented a customer profile GKE (Google Cloud Kubernetes) microservice using SpringBoot, Spring Cloud (Sleuth, Spring Cloud GCP Integration), Hibernate and Google Cloud Spanner. Aimed to use best practices on developing the database schema to take advantage of Spanner's SQL distributed horizontal scaling. Using GitHub to control release management and Harness/GCP Image Registry to perform CI/CD to GKE infrastructure.• Developed a migration module to tokenize Credit Cards to prepare customer profile data to be migrated from legacy Oracle DB to Google Cloud Spanner in next development steps. Built a multithread SpringBoot module with an own Circuit Breaker implementation, similar to Netflix's Hystrix, to increase module resilience and performance in failing communication scenarios.• As clients will migrate their logic in different timelines, it is required to support read/write transactions in both new micro service and old legacy app. Design a SpringBoot 2-way synchronization module to enable both new customer profile microservice and old customer profile app to be updated simultaneously while legacy Oracle DB is not fully deprecated. Implementation will mostly rely on Spring AOP and asynchronous logic to intercept incoming requests and synchronize them with the other application as soon as they are successfully persisted.
