Current• Review insurance policies and assess coverage for claims submitted to the insured.• Claims include discrimination, sexual assault and harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour issues, and negligence. • Coordinate the defense of matters with local defense counselors and make determinations on how to proceed in a case. o This included: reviewing summary judgement motion, coordinating settlements, coordinating mediations and determining overall defense strategies.• Case/claim load included overseeing about 75 to 100 cases for claims across the United States for multiple insurance carriers and policies.• Synthesize complex claim materials into email sized reports to relay to the insurance carrier the status of the claims handled. • Use Excel to review the billing reports from defense counsel and cut costs when defense counsels would over bill or not follow our billing and reporting guidelines. Then report to client on the cost saved. • Review voluminous medical documents to identify the minute details required to defend a particular point of issue in a medical malpractice case.• Write reports to insurance carriers on the status of a claim by identifying how medical records, depositions and court filings relate to ongoing litigation and communicate succinctly the next steps, and managing expectations with carriers of possible outcomes. • Manage discovery including: preparing discovery demands, acquiring authorizations for medical records, attending court conferences, organizing, and attending depositions with plaintiff counsels. • Draft legal papers such as answers, discovery requests, summary judgement motions, and other motions for litigation.
