I began my career at Duquesne Light Co. as an entry level union janitor with a High School diploma. I worked in the line construction crews for 15 years, 10 as an overhead lineman. I attended night school during this time and received an Associates Degree from Community College of Allegheny County. I then left the union and went into a Junior Engineer's position. After two years I became a Distribution Operations Center Supervisor directing Troubleshooters and line crews performing construction, maintenance, and service restoration activities.(15 years ) I then joined a newly formed work scheduling group in 2000 while completing the requirements for a Bachelor's Degree. In 2005 I became the UG Department Manager, retiring in 2008. I returned as a Contractor scheduler from 2008 - 2010. In my case, the American dream really did come true. I was not a great student in High School but obtained a Bachelor's Degree. Hard work and the total support of my family enabled my progression in the company.
