About Daniel D.

Welcome to my Linkedin page.As a bit of a background, I have worked in the design / creative industry for 10 years. Some companies I have worked for have had a variety of clients and I have also had the pleasure to work for other businesses who focus entirely on their own brand. In that time i've worked on many projects ranging from full time employment, freelance work, internship work and working with teams on projects at University. I graduated from my graphic design degree in 2011 and since then I have had a continuous journey of both experience and keeping up with the current trends.Everyone has a different view on what is great design, but these are things that I feel make for a necessary starting point:- nurturing creativity and manage good ideas well from the first minute of a brief and onwards.- contributing that creativity to a team as a graphic designer and to utilise and strengthen personal / professional skills to allow effective and eye catching solutions.- keeping a close consideration to client preferences and requests.- keeping a well rounded and modern sense of Graphic Design.I'm very grateful to be doing what I enjoy day in day out - design really is and always has been what makes me tick!In my free time I love to go running or travelling :- there is nothing I enjoy more than finding out more about other cultures. I have been lucky enough to see places as far as Las Vegas as well as Indonesia and Singapore - as well as many places in Europe. What about you? Whether you are an emerging company or a well established one, get in touch. I love talking to businesses about how they are getting on with their next journey of design and brand evolution :)

Lead Designer

Newark, England, United Kingdom

I have been Lead Designer in the Marketing Team at Digital Space since February 2021.Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, my duties at the company are to lead our Design team and to oversee all creative assets in order to help Digital Space position itself to be a leading and highly competitive technology company, which enables our customers to have a connected, productive and secure space.I now manage a small team - working closely with our Designer to develop Digital Space's brand. I have been developing more skills in mentoring and people management, scheduling weekly priority calls, working with the team to get the best out of ourselves in our working week, as well as pushing the boundaries further in all that is design. This role was also started during the process of the company rebranding itself (from Timico to Digital Space), another interesting journey I have never experienced up until now. With the role change there have been more higher level projects, many rebrand projects, more decision making on creative assets, further emphasis on lead generation methodology and increased duties on how Digital Space presents itself visually to the outside world. It was interesting to take on this role during the Covid-19 pandemic, in a world where more people have started to adapt to hybrid ways of working. At Digital Space, I have been going in the office when the team is in, combined with working from home (Quite a contrast from before the pandemic hit, when we would work 5 days in the office). As the world adjusted, I experienced a shift to Digital Design - however, as more companies emerge from the pandemic and find flexible ways of doing business as usual, it's been exciting to design the company's Business Cards, Jersey Designs and large event banners again, which goes to show that print design still stands strong!I am enjoying the opportunity to get the very best out of the Digital Space brand, while learning more new skills along the way.

Feb 2021 - Dec 2022

Designer

Newark, England, United Kingdom

Digital Space (formerly Timico) is an Information Technology Managed Services provider. When my role became designer in 2015, I took on a wide range of projects and reported to the Creative Manager, who I assisted with the creation of all our design assets, which were used widely across the company - both internally and externally to customers. The role included design work for the website, promotional adverts, campaigns, datasheets, whitepapers, email designs, word documents, powerpoint presentations, video production and editing, social media graphics, exhibition stands, internal design work for company portals, company diagrams and more.In the 7 years of my Designer role, I gained a lot of design experience and also a lot of experience in terms of working with different people. I developed further skills with isometric design and gradually took ownership of bigger projects. It was great to visually explore the art of the possible and to also produce visuals at a faster pace. With 7 years also comes a lot of change, so it was great to work with new people and to increase my teamwork skills, which led to more effective ways of completing work and managing deadlines. From starting out as a Junior Designer in 2014, I saw the company go through a massive evolution - and many different visual styles were explored on the website and on social media.During my time at the company, I was effectively working on 2 different brands - Timico (the old name) and Digital Space. This made our projects very varied and exciting - and led to a comprehensive portfolio of visual work.I was in this role until February 2021, when I was promoted to Lead Designer.

Feb 2015 - Feb 2021

Junior Designer

Newark, England, United Kingdom

On joining Digital Space I was quickly involved on projects; and at a Junior level I enjoyed every opportunity to inject creativity into the brand. I learnt more skills in HTML and Email Design, helped on graphics for the company website and company diagrams and loved to learn a bit more about the IT industry.I gradually eased my way into the company over time, implementing more of the visual styles I was more familiar with, while having fun along the way too.

Mar 2014 - Feb 2015

Designer

Timico and Digital Space are the same organisation. Timico was the previous company name for Digital Space until June 2021.

Mar 2014 - Feb 2021

Junior Packaging Designer

Leicester, Uk

All the design work done in this role was for Wilko packaging - from Houseware and Pet products, to DIY, Cleaning and Decorating (and more). There were opportunities to be creative and develop concepts, however there were also strict brand guidelines to adhere to on all of Wilko’s packaging and designs. Artwork would be proofed to wider members of the Wilko team, before they were approved and then released worldwide.I worked here for around 1 year as their Junior Packaging Designer. This was my first full time role, where I would commute each day and work full time in their office.

Feb 2013 - Mar 2014

Assistant Designer

Quickfire Creative

Harringworth, Northamptonshire, Uk

Quickfire was a second job and part time internship while being at Waitrose to gain valuable commercial design experience. This vacancy was very important to have alongside my portfolio in order to learn how an agency works in contrast to the needs of its clients - and how artworking is approached and managed. It was also useful to learn unfamiliar ways of problem solving and useful to put new prospects into regular practise and gain the relevant side prior to University of practical experience. It is important for designers to learn this adaptability once being in a fast environment and projects are completed with a rapid, effective turnover. Many of the projects included changes to designs, manipulating imagery, coming up with ideas for layouts, resizing adverts and other work that ranged from something creative or something more technical.

Jan 2013 - Mar 2013

Supermarket Assistant

Stamford, Uk

Assisting and serving customers, till work, display Work, general shop work including counting and stock estimating, product presentation etc. Full training was given for this position and tests were taken on an ongoing basis, both on shop premises and in the form of computer training.Although Waitrose was not directly in the field of design, I learnt many valuable things while being there and it was great to develop other skills that are not necessarily associated to graphic design.

Mar 2009 - Feb 2013

Part time while studying my BTEC National Diploma in Multimedia at college and for sometime into studying Graphic Design at university. It then changed from Somerfield to a Waitrose 2 years after I started working there and was kept on as an employee.
