Senior Project Manager
Responsible for simultaneous management and invoicing on a variety of large and small projects. These include museum, institutional, corporate, and trade-shows/events. Manage all resources, schedule, & logistical aspects of my projects including production methods & materials, detailing, fabrication, graphic production, interactive & AV systems, sub-contracting, shipping, and installations. Duties also include business development, vendor relations, record keeping, and estimating/quote work.
Project Estimator
Worked within a tight knit Business Development Team to develop line-item pricing and provide written technical support to meet RFP requirements on hundreds of competitive proposals (always on tight deadline). This involved preparing detailed project analysis & estimates with line-item scope descriptions for each prepared exhibit design. Each contained overall cost projections, labor hours by department (level of effort), subcontracting (based on solicited quotes), materials, etc. Provided bid/no-bid advice, bonding requirements, review of specifications, overall schedule, initial costings, problem resolution, etc. to upper management along with a diverse staff of business development professionals. Often assisted with writing/editing Technical Bid Documents as needed. Interfaced with outside designers, project managers, detailers, purchasing, fabrication, graphics, etc. during “out-of-the-gate” kickoff meeting(s) for awarded projects. This always involved walking step-by-step through the entire estimate explaining my thought processes & conclusions of the scope. I would also identify salient & unique project needs/requirements, hand-over contractor quotes, collaborate on problem solving schemes, help determine value-engineering opportunities, and offer my advice on use of lower cost materials. The goal was always to work towards a more efficient production process while maintaining that the client’s and designer’s expectations are met. Also performed budgeting exercises for outside exhibit design firms and value engineering estimates for internal use. Administered companywide safety training education program for four years while a member of the Safety Committee. Regularly worked beyond 40 hour/week threshold as required to meet time-critical deadlines. Recognized by ownership at both 5- and 10-year employment intervals for outstanding service.
