In a past role as a Manchester Community Games Activator for North Manchester, my first task was to complete an audit of the currentsports and physical activity provision and to identify gaps for the age group 14-24. This task made me realise that it was necessary toform an alliance of sports and physical activity providers for a coordinated approach to tackle the problem. This came to realisationafter explaining the benefit of forming an alliance to 10 sports clubs and the North Manchester Sports Forum (NMSF) was formed. TheNMSF have agreed the principal of providing more sporting opportunities for 14-24 year olds and will be delivering a 6 week sportsprogramme over the summer holidays. At the end of this project we will be running a celebration event, ‘Community Games’, where theyoung people can showcase the skills they have learnt during the 6 week programme. My job for the “Community Games” is to coordinate all 10 sports clubs, who will provide sports activities, leading up to the event and to run the event including managingvolunteers, coordinating partners who will have stalls, organising catering and ensuring the sports activities will be delivered safely.
