Machines Superintendent
CurrentMy role as machines superintendent within CF Fertilisers is to provide technical support to the Billingham site engineering, Procurement and Maintenance teams relating to all types of rotating equipment.Day to Day activities include managing a small in-house team of CF rotating equipment technicians to carry out maintenance as / when required and respond to site breakdowns should they occur. Also a lube tech and condition monitoring analyst form a vital part of the team.Key part of my role is to ensure detailed reports are generated from work carried out on rotating equipment for future reference as/ when required.Maintaining and setting high standards across the Billingham site is also a vital part of my role to ensure good reliability of rotating equipment, this coupled with generating detailed workscopes to the maintenance and engineering teams where required. Responsibilities and accountabilities also include working closely alongside specialist machines contractors such as MAN / Sulzer/ Nuova Pignone, Burckhardt compression/ Siemens etc. Managing / planning /coordination of up to 30 machines contractors at any one time during Major T.A events across our ammonia 4 & Nitric acids plants. Major rotating equipment consists of, axial compressors upto 12.8MW (Sulzer/ GHH), Radial compressors (Sulzer/GHH), Nuova Pignone Barrel compressors (BCL type), Gas expanders upto 12,500kW (Sulzer/GHH), Steam Turbines (Siemens, Peter Brotherhood), Epicyclic gear units (Allen’s, Voith), Labyrinth reciprocating compressors (Burckhardt Compression), 23,000KV Brush generator. Extensive knowledge and experience gained on machine control / trip systems in and around the site. This involves full inspection/ rebuild/ commissioning of all mechanical trip / control system components during major T.A events.
