In Fall of 2023, I began serving San Francisco’s Mission District as Director of Ruth’s Table, an intergenerational art space inspired by the life and work of artist Ruth Asawa. Our building shares a deep history and now a beautiful art center with Bethany Center Senior housing, where Ruth’s 1968 mosaic “Growth” is installed. “Connecting Generations with the Power of the Arts.”In 2009, Ruth Asawa donated a wooden work table, made by her architect husband (Albert Lanier) with the hope that Bethany’s residents and the wider SF community could gather, share, and create with one another— 10 years later a beautiful building was erected and opened to the public to serve this mission. As Director of Ruth’s Table, I am activating and being inspired by a local arts ecosystem. At Ruth's Table, we offer no-cost, artist-led workshops, events, and exhibitions. Intergenerational. Cross-disciplinary. Multicultural. “Together, together!”Ruth’s Table is a Commuity Services program of Front Porch. ruthstable.org
