This plant was constructed to replace an obsolete 50 year old production facility to insure a domestic supply of beryllium for the defense industry, and to provide materials to DOE and NASA projects, as well as commercial products such as X-Ray machines. Over $100 million in new capitol was invested in a state of the art production facility. $75 million was funded in a cost share arrangement with DoD through the Title III Defense Production Act. Additional funding was obtained through the State of Ohio, the Cleveland Port Authority and other state and local agencies. The plant began commercial production in 2012.

Direct responsibility for strip operations in Elmore, Ohio, and Reading, PA. Dotted line responsibility for Strip Casting in Elmore and Distribution and Service Centers in Illinois and New Jersey. Strip products represented over 60% of Brush Wellman’s Alloy Division sales. In turn, the Alloy Division was the largest division in the company.

Learned the technology of a recent Ethyl acquisition for the purpose of designing and starting up a new plant in Magnolia, Arkansas.Technical Service Engineer, Project Engineer, Process Design Engineer, Process Supervisor, Start-up Coordinator and Area Supervisor. Participated in numerous new product start-ups in a multi-products specialty chemical facility. Project Engineer and Design Engineer for capital project ranging from $300K to $1,000K. As Process Supervisor, provided technical supervision for an area consisting of five multi-product reaction trains, one dedicated reaction train, and four sets of distillation columns. As Area Supervisor, responsible for 3 engineers, 3, area superintendents, eight foremen and 60 operators.
