A. FUNCTION OF POSITIONPerforms various duties in the development, layout, design, assembly, installation, testing, calibration, operation and repair of devices used in the! conversion of electrical signals to mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic outputs and the signals to mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic outputs and the sensors which convert mechanical, thermal and pressure measurements to electrical signals. Requires complete knowledge of laboratory techniques, methods and equipment; applies advanced technical knowledge.B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDetermines and develops methods, procedures, -and laboratory equipment required to fulfill assignments and achieve prescribed objectives. Performs all maintenance and operation functions associated with the electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and other types of mechanical equipment in assigned laboratory or work area.Performs troubleshooting and investigative services for malfunctioning or failed pneumatic, hydraulic, pressure, thermal or other electro—mechanical measuring devices, servo systems or equipment employing energy conversion; repair and calibrates such equipment through personal knowledge and skills used in conjunction with applicable equipment manuals and checkout procedures.Installs, checks out and operates equipment such as described above and provides preventive maintenance including special purging and cleaning when a system, equipment or device requires it. Performs work and maintains work area in a neat, orderly, and safe manner. Performs related duties as required.C.
