At almost 40 years old, I am heading back to the work force. I have taken the past ten years off to stay home and raise my three Children. Now that my kids are all in School Full Time, I am excited to put my talents to use, while using my previous education and experiences towards the next chapter of my life adventure. It was important to me as a "Stay at Home" mom to remain active, professional, and educated while taking on the responsibility of a household with three young children. I chose paths that would not only keep my skills sharp and my brain knowledgeable but would also help to enhance the Community I have been a part of for over 30 years. It also allowed me the time to enjoy watching my kids grow up and allowed me to be present for them while still being fulfilled professionally.My first stop was joining the Geneva Community Chest Board of Directors, in 2016. I have loved my role as a Director and have learned a great deal about non for profits in the past Seven years. I have learned to work with charities, evaluate community needs, and use that information to assess what funds and resources can go to the Charity. I have chaired several committees, but the one I treasure most is one of a high school advisor to high school students, also taking interest in non for profits.Even as I joined the Geneva Community Chest, I still had other goals and aspirations. To go along with the Community, I continue to embrace and serve, I was appointed to the Strategic Plan Advisory Committee by the Mayor of The City of Geneva with the City Council's consent in 2017. My job was to help create and implement the City of Geneva's strategic plan which will last until 2025. Along the way I was appointed as the secretary, Vice-Chair, and finally the Chairwoman. I was instrumental in helping to create the City of Geneva's Inaugural Diversity Equity and Inclusionary task force.My last accomplishment has been the most rewarding. When my oldest started Elementary School, the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) was in need of a Vice-President. I wanted to be involved with my kids and their education, but also use my creativity and critical thinking skills. I joined the PTO and have been an integral part of the executive board since 2016. Covid made it difficult to bring on new executive members so I have been a steady source through the storm. My main responsibilities include, planning and scheduling events through the year, chairing and organizing events, budgeting and maintaining a professional working relationship with school administration.
