My name is Kayla. For the past three years I have dedicated my life to improving myself and pursuing what I enjoy most: music, ministering to the church, and overall education. I am earning my degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Vocal Performance. On average I dedicate up to three hours a day to practicing this skill. I use music to improve my life through the diligence it takes to master the techniques necessary to be proficient in vocals. Music has taught me to apply this same dedication to other aspects of my life so that I can continue to improve myself. I believe that music is a universal language that every culture and person uses to relate to one another. Music provides a safe emotional space for people to not only interact, but also confront their own emotions.I have been involved with the church since I was born. I believe religion provides a family oriented community for those in need of support, love, and joy. Social interaction and love is such an important part of survival. Life is not just about surviving, it is about living, and church can help be a catalyst for positive living. I have utilized my love for music to help lead worship. The goal for worship is to provide a space for people to have introspection and communicate with the Lord. Since I believe music is a universal language I strive to combine my love for the Lord with my love of music in order to create an even more powerful space for people to come together. There was a point in my life when I would have never thought that I would be attending college and pursuing my dreams in religion and music. I lacked motivation within myself and in my family, in fact both my parents dropped out of college. I became homeless. One day I was given the chance to start building my future. I began attending Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado. Since then I have learned so much about myself and achieved so many amazing things. I have so much more in store for myself.
