Implemented and conducted the first complete audit of the Vending, Pantry, and Coffee markets for Compass Group’s Western Division by creating a replicable and automated system for processing sales and inventory data. This work involved the expedient and careful entry and analysis of highly detailed data into bespoke Excel workbooks and other analytical systems. This project encompassed more than 20 business operations, hundreds of vendors, and millions of dollars’ worth of sales. The results of the audit revealed key weaknesses in the reporting and maintenance of machines that, when corrected, will prevent avoidable losses due to human error amounting to tens of thousands of dollars.

-Bookkeeper-Processed and recorded monthly deposits, payments, charges, and invoices for a 54-unit Assisted Living Facility into a liveaccounts management system, requiring supreme attention to detail. Organized the records of the office to ensure ease ofretrieval upon requests and brought the franchise current on overdue payments. Managed time cards, schedules, andtwice-monthly payroll for the community’s employees.-Administrative Assistant-Provided administrative support for a mid-sized Assisted Living Facility during a period of rapid reorganization. Helpedtransition the record retention process of the facility to a digital e-MAR system in order to ensure that they were able tomeet state regulatory requirements. Worked with residents and their Long Term Care providers and other agencies in orderto ensure continued access to health care. Provided tours of the community to potential residents and their families.

Office Of Finance And Administration

Maintained a busy professional office, fielding phone calls and completing special projects during a dynamic period of change within the institution. Became familiar with a wide range of office applications, including (but not limited to): Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Publisher, Vizio, Photoshop, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Managed a well-stocked supply room and limited outages in order to ensure continued efficiency within the department. In addition, managed the departmental email account and web portal that serves as the most frequently-used point of contact to the students and families of Portland State.

Prepared and hosted numerous formal, semi-formal, and casual events related to Portland State, the students of Portland State, and its administration. Gave tours of campus to diverse groups of prospective students and VIPs, ranging from one-on-one tours to potential heads of departments to groups of over 30. Maintained a professional office tasked with providing information to visitors. Assisted in the coordination of Portland State's commencement ceremonies.

Aided Senator Merkley’s Constituent Services team and general state-level operations. Worked with constituents in various states of distress with issues ranging from managing student loans with the Department of Education to accelerating visas through the Department of State. Attended meetings and events on behalf of the Senator and his staff and provided written summaries of events. In addition, maintained a database of correspondence and workflows containing tens of thousands of constituents.

As the sole intern for Congressman Schrader, I was tasked with researching a variety of legislative issues from defense spending to healthcare for presentation to the Congressman, all the while maintaining a professional office. Attended briefings with detailed notes for hislegislative aides and gave extended tours of the United States Capitol and surrounding grounds to groups of over 30 people.

Researched, wrote, edited, and collaborated on over 15 articles for the bi-weekly studentnewspaper – often involving interviewing and accurately portraying members of the university administration and local Portland elected officials.
