Kristin Sharp has always had a passion for empowering women on an international scale. Kristin is actively working to turn that calling into a career. She earned a BA in Sociology with a minor in International Studies and a focus on Women and Gender Studies from Millersville University of Pennsylvania, where she was employed as a student research assistant at The Center for Public Scholarship and Social Change and Sociology Department tutor. Kristin has also completed two associate degrees from Harrisburg Area Community College, one in Hospitality and Tourism Management with a concentration in Tourism, Convention, and Event Management in 2018 and the other in Human Services in 2004. These degrees gave Kristin a well-rounded base in small business management and social services that, along with her bachelor’s degree, served her well as she completed her MA in NGO Management from Johns Hopkins University in May 2023.After refusing to take no for an answer, Kristin fulfilled a lifelong dream and spent a year living and volunteering in Hackney, a diverse borough of London, UK from August 2017 to August 2018. She was able to apply her experience from interning and working at Milagro House, a shelter for women and children in Lancaster, PA. Her year in London confirmed her desire and ability to work with women and children living in poverty in an international and intercultural context. In addition to supporting family projects, Kristin assisted in planning and running fundraisers and special events with a focus on community building and social justice. Kristin also spent many years volunteering in her daughters’ schools, both in the classroom and on various committees. As PTO President, Kristin ran meetings and organized volunteers, events, and fundraisers. Kristin has participated in several service and learning trips internationally. When she was 17, she traveled to Northern Ireland to learn about the sectarian conflicts and volunteer at an intersectional YMCA. In 2015, she led a group of young women to Ecuador to spend time volunteering and engaging with the indigenous populations. In 2019, Kristin traveled to Ukraine with Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) to tour their agricultural and value chain projects.
