As Associate Director of Strategic Communications, I managed the daily operations of the communications unit, including media relations, digital engagement (website and social media), messaging, and creative content. I oversaw the design and implementation of institutional communications strategies and tactics, including effective framing and messaging for campaigns to advance institutional goals. UUSC serves as a critical human rights advocate in the faith-based sector with a focus on climate change, immigration, justice for crimes against humanity, and connecting communities facing oppression with those in power to build movements and transform systems and institutions.

Greater Boston Area

As the sole communications staff member, I played a pivotal role in creating public-facing content for the foundation, developing and maintaining partnerships with key allies and grantees, implementing cross-institutional collaborations, and developing the institution's brand. The foundation played a critical role in funding racial justice work in the Greater Boston region and my communications support helped advance a number of initiatives to address racial, economic, and social disparities in the area.

As Communications and Public Relations Manager, I led the institution's multi-vehicle communications strategy on a number of statewide campaigns, from ensuring legal protections for transgender and gender-expansive people to efforts to end bullying in schools and eliminate discrimination based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity/expression. My communications work focused on mindshift communications and dispelling narratives around members of the LGBTQ+ community, supplanting misinformation and disinformation with narratives rooted in shared values, truth, and justice.

Greater Boston Area

Working with a union membership of more than 50,000 healthcare workers, I was responsible for implementing a statewide communications program to inform, inspire, and influence unionized workers into action on a number of key initiatives in the Bay State. Initiatives included electoral campaigns, efforts to raise the mimimum wage, legislative advocacy on nurse staffing levels in hospitals, and colloborations to improve the quality of care provided in Massachusetts' nursing homes.

I staffed the news desk, providing administrative support for members of the editorial staff, writing obituaries, taking news tips, tracking competing news outlets, and ensuring the smooth flow of information between departments. I also served as a freelance reporter, often covering a range of stories to supplement the newspaper's coverage of the Greater Boston area.
