Led implementation of major multi-repository information portal for BellSouth (AT&T). This series of sites was under the Metadata Services Group umbrella of BellSouth and served all of BellSouth’s IT organizations. It was a highly sophisticated, taxonomically complex, metadata-based portal with multiple repositories and databases, sophisticated digital asset management, document storage and retrieval, and pattern-based indexing and search mechanisms. The framework served over 45 major corporate entities, including the Project Management Organization, Common Business Services, Security, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning, IT Architecture and Compliance, Infrastructure Cost Reduction and Transformation, and Enterprise Databases. The various repositories eventually included over 100,000 assets and/or their proxies. This five-year effort culminated in winning the Best-Of Award at the Wilshire Metadata/DAMA International Symposium and Conference; mentored BellSouth employees, management, and consultants; advised BellSouth management in IT strategy and in project and staffing decisions; installed, configured, customized, and demonstrated SharePoint Portal Server as proof-of-concept for a number of BellSouth organizations; architected, designed, and spearheaded the implementation of a .NET-based, open source product catalog and e-commerce solution used internally within BellSouth.
