In 1993 I decided that I needed to get out of the management rut that I was in before I hit thirty. It was, very literally, time for Plan B!So in October of that year in a small office in Glencairn Business Park in Kilmarnock I started working for myself and as the business fast approaches its twentieth anniversary we're still here. Still based in Ayrshire. Still wholly independent and still enjoying every moment of it.Plan B is now split in two with Digital still looking after our proprietary tourism software and website clients and Plan B Events looking after our programme of live music including the successful rock festival WinterStorm and South Beach Sessions.Over three decades we've had some great highs and some pretty deep lows but it's all been part of that learning curve. Plan B has always been more of a statement of intent than a business description and difficult to tie down in a simple description; on hindsight perhaps it was always going to be like that. But if Plan B was a brand it would reflect change, diversity, risk and urgency. It would counter conformity, it would challenge preconceptions; it would question the status quo. We've still got clients we had at the very beginning and it's still great fun. The delivery and distribution channels may have changed over the past twenty plus years but the principle hasn't. We continue to offer creative, straight talking solutions to the independent hospitality sector. We build online strategies, we design websites, we offer marketing solutions, we convert online business. We are immersed in tourism; we still love the golf sector; we get a kick out of working with our partners in the live music arena, we still host our own events and we still have great fun with our own occasional pet projects.Following my own Plan B has been, and remains, fun!
