Rob Power is an Assistant Professor of Education with the School of Education & Health at Cape Breton University,. He is also and Adjunct Professor of Educational Technology, working with graduate and undergraduate education students from numerous Canadian institutions including Athabasca University, Mount Royal University, Ontario Tech University, and the University of Manitoba. Rob has been working in the Education sector since 2001, and has taught at the K12, college, undergraduate and graduate levels. Rob successfully defended his dissertation research for the Doctor of Education in Distance Education program at Athabasca University in January 2015. Rob has also served as the Leader, Online Learning, with the Fraser Health Authority (2015-18), and as an Instructional Development Consultant with the British Columbia Institute of Technology (2018-19). Since 2011, Rob has been actively involved in the mobile learning research community. His work has included the development of the Mobile Teacher’s Sense of Efficacy Scale research instrument, and the Collaborative Situated Active Mobile (CSAM) learning design framework. Rob has also taken a leading role within the International Association for Mobile Learning (IAmLearn). In 2013, Rob served as the project manager and conference chair for the 12th World Conference on Mobile and Contextual Learning (mLearn 2013) in Doha, Qatar, where he was elected to the IAmLearn Executive Committee. Rob was elected President of the IAmLearn Executive Committee (2017-19) at mLearn 2017 in Larnaca, Cyprus. In May 2022, Rob was elected to the role of Director with the Board of Directors of the Canadian Network for Innovation in Education (CNIE), and in May 2023 he was elected to the role of CNIE Vice-President. Rob was also a recipient of the 2020-2022 Cape Breton University Instructional Leadership Award.Rob has also served as a judge for the GSMA Global Mobile Awards (Best Educational Innovation category) since 2016. His research interests include teacher preparation for, and pedagogical approaches to instructional design for mobile and ubiquitous learning. He is particularly interested in pursuing further studies and research into:- Pedagogical approaches and instructional design for mobile learning- Teacher preparation for the use of mobile and ubiquitous technologies- Teacher self-efficacy with educational technology- The use of educational technology to increase academic collaboration among educators and students
