Computer Science (Digital & Technology Solutions) BSc at the University of Leeds, in collaboration with PwC

During my time so far as an online tutor using MyTutor's platform, I've completed over 110 lessons with over 30 5-star reviews (so far!) regarding my work with my students and the impact I've made on their learning. I've worked with a wide range of students, ranging in age & ability (6yrs-50yrs, yr1 upto people in industry) - helping them achieve their academic goals & grow in confidence in their chosen subject.My role mainly involves planning lessons in advance, tailoring the content around what we're working on at that moment whilst also taking into account their confidence, ability & learning style. I also work with my students to understand what areas they would like to work on or have struggled with in the past, which leads to a longer term plan being developed which in itself feeds into individual lesson planning. My job then is to deliver the content I've planned in an engaging & interesting way to help students understand new concepts/ideas plus revising our previous work to grow their overall confidence in themselves & their work. I've loved my role as a tutor so far and I feel I've made a positive impact on all of my students & their education - and I can't wait to work with more people and help them achieve their goals!

I was a part-time Maths & English tutor at the Kumon centre in Heywood, where I worked with children aged between 4 and 16 to improve their basic maths & english skills. The role consisted of both 1-to-1 work alongside supervising larger groups of students at times - meaning I constantly had to adapt my approach based on the situation and who I was working with. I tailored the sessions around the learning styles of each student and had to motivate them to be excited about their learning & to focus on their work. In the role I also had to ensure the students had up to date homework and mark pieces of work they had done (both in the session & at home) for which I had to be attentive whilst also efficient due to the constant influx of work to mark. I thoroughly enjoyed my role as a tutor at Kumon and felt I made an impact on the children's learning whilst also being a friendly face around the centre.

During this week, I spent a week with PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) learning how technology is used in business and how it can be used in the future to innovate the way business takes place, such as artificial intelligence and blockchain.
