Sarah Jackson is a reporter, editor and producer. She has spent her career telling stories about pressing social issues from educational equity to low-wage work. Sarah works with foundations, researchers and grassroots nonprofit organizations on reporting projects that raise up marginalized voices, educate and shape agendas for progressive policy change. Sarah's byline appears regularly at New America where she covers early childhood policy reform in California for a national audience. Sarah was named a 2020 Data Fellow with USC’s Center for Health Journalism for reporting on the well-being of children under 5. In 2018 Sarah produced the video series Transforming the Early Childhood Workforce for which she traveled around the country visiting classrooms and interviewing teachers, administrators, and higher education experts. She recently completed a multiyear reporting project with The James Irvine Foundation about California workers who have experienced wage theft (wagetheftstories.org). In addition to her journalism, Sarah has authored op-eds, white papers and policy briefs. Sarah recently joined the Labor Occupational Health Program at UC Berkeley to support efforts to get critical information about health and safety into the hands of workers and worker organizations.
