There is an electric energy when advocates speak truth to power, which drives my career. When I first witnessed the impact of storytellers speaking up on the urgent need for paid family and medical leave at a city council meeting in DC, I was inspired. I felt this energy again when I coordinated a client’s first-ever federal fly-in. These experiences led me to a career in federal advocacy, centered on lived experiences. Pursuing and enacting equitable policies is the true path to achieving economic justice, ending poverty, and creating labor policies that empower workers. Our government was designed to be representative, and we see the best of this system when advocates inform our policy decisions. I am proud to work to demystify Congress and the federal government in the pursuit of a society where everyone's needs are met and everyone can thrive.
