As a BHT at a psychiatric hospital my responsibility entailed: Daily Milieu notes documented every 15 minutes for each patient. Document necessary activities/behaviors/situations on each patient, daily. Using appropriate, healthy and engaging communication skills with my fellow team members, to work cohesively & safely. Safely transitioning patients between the units & their scheduled place (gym, meal times, groups, for adults a smoke break, etc.) Assuring each and every individual patients safety is my top priority. Facilitate group sessions based on scheduled topics. Demonstrate safe & compassionate De-escalation tactics during high risk, crisis situations. Ability to safely & calmly, use my training in the use of physical restraints and seclusion during crisis/high risk situations. Ability to take hold of lead BHT position at any given time to assist with the units needs. Demonstrate safe, healthy and practical boundaries with all patients. Assist with the discharge planning for patients whom are discharging. Inventory and document all personal property to assure nothing harmful, unsafe or banned items are being taken to their unit. Conduct room/patient/unit searches when instructed. Conduct cleaning at the end of each shift (empty garbages, use hospital grade sanitizer wipes to wipe down every surface, etc.) Become the voice of the patients to help them be heard and understood. Also, use healthy engagement skills when interacting with patients.Try to elicit healthy, positive and happy responses and behaviors as patients learn to find/use their new found coping skills and healthy boundaries within a safe environment.
