About Stephanie Moore

Communications professional with a passion for connecting people with the information they seek.My work in communications began with planning events, conferences, virtual events and educational webinars as a government consultant. I quickly learned that clear and relatable event information resulted in happier and more engaged participants. As part of my role, I drafted copy for fliers, websites, agendas and e-blasts. The copy included event logistics, content, and marketed the events to new and returning participants. I learned to highlight the most important event details while keeping the readers engaged through a deep understanding of my audience. While working at this consultancy, I realized my true passion in communications when I collaborated to create a city blog, Stay Classy Canton, in 2012. I wrote weekly articles and managed large social media account (Facebook and Instagram), while also throwing events for the blog. The impact of positive local news and information shared on the blog and social media sites created a ripple effect of fundraising and community events benefiting neighbors. Through my work on this passion project, I’ve honed my skills creating concise content and adapting to short-form platforms. Through my work with Stay Classy Canton I was recruited me for my next position as a communications specialist for NOAA. In this position, I mastered translation of highly technical scientific information about the JPSS weather satellite program into consumer education content and was also charged with keeping the website content fresh and engaging. In this role, I became a diligent researcher, finding ways to explain scientific language to a layperson who might want to learn more about or support NOAA. As a Senior Web Specialist at Johns Hopkins medicine, I managed multiple departments' web content including Radiology and The Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety & Quality. I worked with subject matter experts to present their procedures and findings into easily digestible consumer copy. I have managed the creation of new websites as well as converting older sites into a more consumer-friendly mobile-first platform with new architecture structures and content. Throughout my career, I’ve found success in quickly learning and adapting my message and medium to meet the needs of different audiences. Connecting people to information is my passion.

Listed skills include Editing, Research, Nonprofits, Social Networking, and 16 others.
