As Director of Operations for Treanor Architects, I was responsible for structuring, implementing and monitoring key, firm-wide business practices and project procedures for the firm comprised of specialized market sectors and discipline groups. My involvement included development of business metrics, contract policies and procedures, risk management and claims resolution. I also served as the leader/facilitator of Treanor’s Professional Practice Group which is devoted to the firm’s project management, quality assurance/quality control and client service practices. I remain with the firm on a consulting basis with continued involvement with the Professional Practice Group and the development and implementation of a project management training program. I remain involved with Treanor Architects on a consulting basis assisting with Project Management and Business Management Operations.
Senior Vice President, Director Of Operations
As Director of Operations and member of a four-person Management Board for this region of HOK for eight years, I was responsible for business performance across all practice areas and disciplines for the St. Louis and Chicago locations totaling two hundred eighty professionals and support staff. This position also included a leadership role in project management and project delivery for both regional locations and additionally as a member of core boards within the worldwide HOK organization. The preparation of Owner and Consultant/Engineer Agreements and leading the negotiations for these contracts was another aspect of my operations role that also included implementations of risk management initiatives for the firm.

This role as Risk Management Director served the HOK organization on a firm-wide basis and reached all the firm’s international locations in its capacity. I was responsible for the development of programs designed to minimize exposure to risk with focus on best practices and procedures for project management and delivery. A risk management training program was developed with my leadership and presented throughout the firm with my personal follow-up and involvement with implementation. Claims management was another element of this role and included my direct involvement in the legal process of discovery, analysis and resolution. I assisted Corporate General Counsel in preparation of Standard Agreements for contracts used by the firm.
Senior Project Manager
Over a period of approximately ten years I managed four large, complex stadium projects with both public and private ownership groups. The design teams were multi-disciplinary, in multiple cities and required intense focus to meet the schedules and budgets of professional sports organizations, their constituents and representatives. The construction costs for these facilities ranged from $125 million to $200 million and were constructed between 1988 and 1998 in the United States. As a Senior Project Manager for these projects my responsibilities included contract preparation and negotiations, communication strategies for the internal and overall project team, scheduling and coordination of architectural and engineering disciplines and monitoring the A/E team for risk exposure and potential claims.
