- Contributed to the team's efforts to safely open up our AWS infrastructure by way of creating well-documented Terraform modules for use by the rest of the engineering organization. In addition to this, I performed outreach and education regarding these modules to teach developers best-practices.- Took apart a Terraform mono-repo into individual service-level Terraform configurations so that service owners can better own their own infrastructure and develop faster.- Aided in developing a downscaling Kubernetes operator that downscaled our non-production resources to 0 pods during off-hours and downtime to save on operational costs.- Developed several additions to a standard Helm chart that added features such as implementing PodDisruptionBudgets, the aforementioned Downscaler, and VPAs. These helped abstract away some of the difficulties engineers faced when implementing some of the cost-savings tooling that we had implemented.- Helped in the migration off of a stagnant self-managed Jenkins pipeline to more readily accessible and easy-to-use CI/CD solution (Codefresh).- Gained project management experience by perform bottom-up roadmap planning for upcoming projects. This included performing discovery, doing outreach, and working with external teams to coordinate tasks for upcoming quarters.

- Secured edge networking with AWS Web Application Firewall (WAF) to fend off DDoS attacks, web scrapers, & other bad actors from attacking sensitive API endpoints. Created dashboards that provided observability into endpoints being attacked.- Enabled engineers to create & manage AWS resources with self-service Terraforminfrastructure & added tooling (Atlantis) that provided audit logs and DRYful code that provisioned replicable resources across different environments.- Migrated from an in-office VPN to a cloud-hosted OpenVPN solution which decoupled the workforce from slow local networking & increased developer agility (split tunneling) & security (access alerts, audit logs → ELK, RADIUS access control, resource-gating via VPN).- Moved from a self-managed Jenkins to Github Actions for small PR-level automation tasks.- Helped re-architect our on-call practices by revamping existing on-call processes, clarifying roles/duties in a “mission control” scenario, creating monitoring dashboards/alerts, & formulated internal SLOs.

Software Development Engineering Intern at PagerDuty working on the Incident Management: Systems + Enterprise (Narwhals) team. - Developed an Enterprise Permissions microservice API for accounts with 10k+ users, providing a ≈500% increase in speed for operations that query for thousands of user permissions.- Decoupling messy RPCs and cross-departmental dependencies from a Rails monolith into an 'Incident Processing' Elixir + Kafka microservice pipeline, increasing its modularity and scalability for future business growth.- Bootstrapping and launching an Elixir application that is able to handle massive team management queries using ElasticSearch rather than SQL queries- Porting old Rails artifacts into cleaner, standardized Ember.js applications. In addition, Taiga also gained experience in Operational work by joining the team's on call rotation, utilizing monitoring tools such as Datadog, Splunk, and New Relic, and took top-to-bottom ownership of development, deployment, and health of the services launched.
