EngageWell IPA advocates for and promotes access to life-saving, community-based services provided by a network of agencies across New York City. Our service approach increases engagement and retention in care, improves health outcomes, and advances the dignity and well-being of marginalized populations.
EngageWell envisions an equitable and trauma-informed health care delivery system, rooted in Harm Reduction principles, that supports clients and communities in breaking the links between poverty, structural racism, and poor health.
What We Do: EngageWell IPA is a dynamic, mission-driven consortium of over 20 non-profit community-based organizations that deliver integrated, trauma-informed care to more than 160,000 New Yorkers annually. Our network partners with people living with HIV, those actively using substances, individuals experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, immigrants, older adults, and others navigating chronic medical and behavioral health conditions.
Rooted in the harm reduction and HIV/AIDS advocacy movements of the 1980s, EngageWell was formed to close the gaps in care for populations long excluded from traditional health systems. Today, our model brings together outpatient medical care, behavioral health treatment, care management, and social services—addressing the full continuum of needs and the social and structural determinants of health.
