I am a Interactive Media Studies graduate at Miami University working towards a career in digital game design. I enjoy creative thinking, programming and art, so I chose an outlet that was the best fit for me. Since I want to be able to develop my own projects, I have been picking up knowledge and skills in game design, programming, digital art assets, and more throughout my college experience. Through the course IMS 466 Critical Game Development, I've worked on the prototype for a game I've wanted to make for a very long time. It serves as a portfolio piece if I want to apply for a job at a game design studio, along with another game I created after taking IMS 466 again last semester. One of the great aspects from pursuing a degree in IMS is that if I am unable to make a career out of my own games, I will have the skills to either join a game design studio or find work involving programming or computing.Through studiousness and hard work I have earned several achievements up to this point in life. I am part of both the University Academic Scholars Program and the Miami Honors Program, showing my academic achievements. I am an honorary Eagle Scout, which means I had to push through years of hard work. This helped me improve my skills in leadership, communication, physicality, and so much more. At college, I serve as the Tournament Organizer for the Miami University Fighters Guild, a club showcasing and spreading the enjoyment of the Fighting genre of video games. Last year, Fighters Guild won an award for being the best new club. As the T.O. I have to manage the rulesets for each game the club features in tournament and run said tournaments. My job keeps our club events running smoothly and making sure that the competition is fair for everyone. I also engage in club discussions to keep the club running in a way that improves the experience of our club members. I've also developed teaching and leadership skills by educating members on how to play different fighting games.
