Determined that chain flights were installed upside down and that the chain was transporting some of the carry over in the links themselves. Designed a deflector for the chain -and field crew flipped flights for correct orientation -and system was returned to normal operation with no excessive carry over.* Troubleshot faulty conveyors at Ince Park near Cheshire, England and developed modifications and drawings to fix system. Modifications worked and system was returned to working order.* High definition FARO 3D scanner operation and trainer for other operators.* 3D Scan data extraction and model/drawing development from scans.* Transferring drawings to ADEPT PDM software.

Shingle manufacturing plant with 3 level multi-assembly integrated machine approximately 2-3 blocks long. Starting end has large fiberglass rolls and finishing end has a palletizing section for finished shingle bundles* Design new machine assemblies and associated equipment.* Design modifications for existing equipment.* 3D SolidWorks design.* Quotes and coordination for outside contract fabrication.* Bills of Materials.* Calculating moment of inertia and modified designs to optimize for speed and structural integrity.* Designing with improvements to increase machine production speeds to nearly double of current rate when I started.* Collecting inputs from machine operators for normal operations and down day maintenance to design for improved efficiency and to reduce difficulties faced by operators and maintenance personnel.* Troubleshot and designed modifications to fix a new 2 million dollar bundle shrink wrapping machine. Replaced defective chain and delrin track flight movement assembly with lightweight cog and chain system. Design repaired system and returned to efficient operating condition.* Designed new palletizer fixture with lower profile for better loading and much improved weight characteristics which made palletizing section operate faster with less failures.* Designed diverter gate between upper and lower conveyors to stackers to improve diverting rate because current design could not transition between upper and lower positions fast enough and shingles were crashing into conveyor belts at higher speeds. Used technology I learned during my time in the USAF in periodic inspection and repair. Created aluminum finger design with zero air intrusion epoxy bonded (vacuum enhanced) ceramic tiles. This lightweight finger design greatly improved transition speed while retaining gate assembly durability and allowed faster production rates.

This is where I got my start as a Mechanical Designer for fiberglass pultrusion machinery* I learned to operate lathes, vertical mills, drill presses, welding machines, and a wide variety of other machinery to improve my performance as a mechanical designer and effective interface to shop fabrication personnel.* I learned to design fiberglass die layouts as well as jigs, equipment stands, processing stations etc.* I learned how to design new machinery for specialized tasks such as semi-automated tube finishing saws, stackers, and a lot more.* I worked with bearings, air cylinders, prox and eye sensors, solenoids, motors, shafts and other associated components.* I did die calculations to determine number of strands that could be effectively incorporated into a fiberglass pultrusion profile.* I did load calculations for beams in high pressure die clamp layouts
